King-Size Bobbin Takes the Heat in Electric Car
The built-in battery charger for the new electric-powered 'Th!nk' city car relies on a large bobbin molded from Rynite®. The bobbin is part of a transformer coil assembly in a fivestage charger that plugs into an ordinary 110 V alternating current outlet. The transformer coil converts the power supply to 72 V direct current for charging the vehicle battery.
The bobbin measures 5.5 in. high by 4.25 in. wide (140 by 108 mm). It holds both primary and secondary coil windings, which are separated by an insulating flange. The finished coil is placed in a water-tight cast aluminum housing.

Encapsulated Solenoid Stands Up to Aggressive Chemicals
Manufacturer relies on Zytel® HTN high performance polyamide in producing fully encapsulated solenoids for a family of compact valves used in laboratory and industrial equipment and instruments. Zytel® HTN serves for the solenoids coil form and its protective outer shell.
The solenoids are then used in Inert Isolation Valves. The valves are engineered to control the flow of high-purity or aggressive fluids including reagents, alcohol, sodium hypochlorite, formaldehyde, sodium hydroxide, etc.

Coil Encapsulation Improves Class F Motor's Protection Against Heat, Moisture
Hansen Corporation has upgraded the performance of its Synchron synchronous timing motors for Class F (155°C) service by encapsulating their stator coils with Rynite® PET. The coils were formerly wrapped with tape, and some were coated with varnish. The motors' coil forms are also molded from Rynite® PET.
The redesigned units are the first Class F timing motors to deliver the benefits of thermoplastic encapsulation technology to users. The motors are chiefly used to control and operate vents and valves in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Switch to Rynite® PET, Delrin® Streamlines Valve Production
A solenoid-operated valve has been designed using Rynite® PET thermoplastic polyester resin and Delrin® acetal resin. The solenoid assembly is encapsulated with Rynite® PET thermoplastic polyester resin instead of epoxy. The coil bobbin is injection molded from Rynite® PET or, for valves installed in food or beverage equipment, from Delrin® acetal resin. The valve body, formerly machined in brass, stainless steel or aluminum, is now injection molded from Delrin® .
Valve serves in humidifiers, pneumatic factory automation systems, beverage dispensers and other equipment.

Coil bobbins offer termination options, snap-fitting shrouds
These coil bobbins offer several termination options. The parts shown have slots for direct termination of magnet wire to soft leads. The bobbins are also available with pockets for conventional terminals, with provisions for termination to an insulation displacement connector or with a holder for a thermal cutoff. Nine sizes are available, from 0.625 by 0.625 in. (16 by 16 mm) to 1.0 by 1.5 in. (25 by 38 mm). The bobbins are used with two L-shaped shroud components that snap-fit together. Both bobbins and shrouds are injection molded from Rynite® PET thermoplastic polyester resin.

Instrument transformer components
Outer casing and core jacket in Rynite® PET thermoplastic polyester resin for toroidal 600 V current transformers used to monitor electrical flow. The core jacket goes between the transformers ferrite core and windings to prevent damage to the magnet wire by the cores sharp edges. The outer casing insulates the transformer from a primary conductor, which passes through the hole in its center. Consisting of two parts joined with hot-melt adhesive, the casing also protects against mechanical damage and the entry of foreign matter.
