Encapsulated Solenoid Stands Up to Aggressive Chemicals
Description
Manufacturer relies on Zytel® HTN high performance polyamide in producing fully encapsulated solenoids for a family of compact valves used in laboratory and industrial equipment and instruments. Zytel® HTN serves for the solenoid's coil form and its protective outer shell.
The solenoids are then used in Inert Isolation Valves. The valves are engineered to control the flow of high-purity or aggressive fluids including reagents, alcohol, sodium hypochlorite, formaldehyde, sodium hydroxide, etc.
Benefits
Resists aggressive fluids. The protective shell of Zytel® HTN can withstand exposure to a wide range of chemicals and cleaning solutions at ambient and elevated temperature.
Seals out liquids. Thanks to astute part design, material selection and control of molding conditions, the encapsulation process produces parts with reliable protection against liquid ingress.
Low production costs. Produced in a single molding step, the encapsulated solenoid costs less than a metal-encased solenoid previously used for the valves.
Built-in standards compliance. Using a DuPont pretested, preapproved UL1446 Class B (130°C) EIS (electrical insulation system), saved time and money in meeting its customer's potential need for compliance with UL and global electrical safety requirements. Materials Used
Zytel® HTN meets this application's requirements for resistance to a wide range of chemicals, high temperatures and humidity and for its excellent performance in the encapsulation molding process.
