Bobbin serves in transformer for furnace controls
Description
A custom bobbin injection molded in Rynite® PET thermoplastic polyester resin serves in a compact 24 V, 40 VA transformer developed by Honeywell Inc. to power its residential, commercial and industrial furnace controls. The bobbin is designed for automated insertion of solderless insulation-displacement terminations. It is sized for EI 87 laminations with a stack height of 3/4 in. (19 mm).
Benefits
Standards compliance. Honeywell saved testing costs and development time with use of a pre-tested, pre-approved package DuPont insulation system for Class B service (UL 1446).
Design freedom. The transformer's compact design and the bobbin's suitability for automated assembly rely on the excellent properties and easy molding capabilities of Rynite®.
Consistent properties. Foremost rigorously controls molding process conditions to achieve the full crystallinity essential for optimum properties and dimensional stability of parts made of Rynite®.
Saves costs and time. Foremost molds the bobbin in a multiple-cavity modular mold. This provides significant savings on part cost, tooling cost and lead time compared with use of a dedicated mold.
Materials Used
Rynite® PET fills needs for excellent dielectric performance, strength, warp and temperature resistance, recognition for UL 94 V-0 and 5-V flammability performance and service in UL 1446 systems as follows: Classes B (130°C), F (155°C), H (180°C) and N (200°C).
