Multifunctional armature insulator (spider)
Description
New standard injection mold base makes it even more economical to make a spider or multifunctional armature insulator in Rynite® PET thermoplastic polyester resin.
Built by a leading UL-recognized component molder in cooperation with DuPont, the mold base can accept up to eight cavity inserts. It can make spiders up to 2.4 in. (61 mm) in diameter with integral shaft insulating sleeves up to 1.4 in. (36 mm) long.
Benefits
Lower tooling and production costs. Motor manufacturers pay only the cost of cavity inserts, saving up-front charges for engineering and building the base. Part costs reflect the economies of eight-cavity production.
Lower assembly costs. A single injection molded part in Rynite® can replace two stamped fiber parts, the spider and the cylindrical shaft insulator. There is also potential for integration of slot insulators.
Higher quality. With one part replacing two or more, the potential for part and assembly defects drops sharply.
Ready-made standards compliance. Rynite® resins are included in preapproved, UL-recognized insulation systems for Class 130(B), Class 155(F), Class 180(H) and Class 200(N).
Materials Used
Rynite® PET provides the required combination of: resistance to heat aging, moisture, cold shock and vibration stress; outstanding dielectric performance; UL 94 V0 or 5V flammability ratings, dimensional stability; and high productivity in injection molding. Rynite® provides low warp needed for some designs. Other flame-retardant and standard formulations of Rynite® are available to meet various application requirements.
