Coil bobbins offer termination options, snap-fitting shrouds
Description
These coil bobbins offer several termination options. The parts shown have slots for direct termination of magnet wire to soft leads. The bobbins are also available with pockets for conventional terminals, with provisions for termination to an insulation displacement connector or with a holder for a thermal cutoff. Nine sizes are available, from 0.625 by 0.625 in. (16 by 16 mm) to 1.0 by 1.5 in. (25 by 38 mm).
The bobbins are used with two L-shaped shroud components that snap-fit together. Both bobbins and shrouds are injection molded from Rynite® PET thermoplastic polyester resin.
Benefits
Lower assembly costs. The slotted design makes it easier and less costly to terminate to soft leads, according to Ramag. In addition, snap-fitting shrouds can reduce or eliminate the need for costly taping operations.
Global electrical approval. Electrical manufacturers save development costs and time with bobbins and shrouds in Rynite®. Such components are recognized by Underwriters Laboratories for use in applications up to and including Class N (200°C), 600 V and meet most international standards.
Split double-section styles facilitate compliance with Germany's VDE requirements.
Materials Used
Rynite® PET fills needs for dielectric performance, high-temperature stability, compliance with U.S. and international electrical regulations, dimensional stability and ease of molding in complex, thin-wall bobbin designs.
