Coil bobbins for use with ferrite magnetic cores
Description
Made of Rynite® PET thermoplastic polyester resins based on flame-retarded PET, these coil bobbins are specially designed for use with ferrite magnetic cores in computer power supplies, lighting ballasts and various other applications. The model at the left is a PQ type for high power-to-unit-volume coils operating in the 20 to 500 W range. Molded in Rynite®, it is available in seven sizes from 20 to 40 mm long. The other two units shown are ETD types for power conversion applications from 150 to 1000 W. The center unit is designed for vertical mounting on a board, the one on the right for horizontal mounts. Both are made of Rynite® and are supplied in four sizes ranging from 34 to 49 mm long.
Benefits
Pretested, preapproved. Manufacturers of electrical products save time and expense in getting new products to market because these bobbins are preapproved for use in UL 1446 insulation systems ranging up to Class H (180°C), or Class N (200°C) for the ETD types in Rynite®. Their UL 94 flammability rating is V-0.
Solder bath resistance. In some applications, these bobbins can withstand short-term (2 sec) exposure during dipping of terminals in liquid solder up to 700°F (370°C), according to users.
Materials Used
Rynite® PET fulfills needs for dielectric properties, high-temperature stability, compliance with U.S. and international electrical safety requirements, dimensional stability and ease of molding in complex, thin-wall designs.
